Meet Your Doula
I’m Shannon and I’m grateful to be considered for your birth team.
With the birth of my niece in 2022, I was unknowingly acting as a postpartum doula, and I didn’t even know what a doula was!
I began passionately learning about the world of birth and birth support, and felt a nudge, a voice inside of me that kept whispering, “you’d be really good at this”. I decided to take the jump into doula work at the start of 2025.
In March, I trained as a doula with DONA International at San Diego County Midwives, and I knew I wanted to start my work in the volunteer space.
Since May 2025, I have volunteered with UCSD's incredible doula program, Hearts & Hands, and have logged over 150 hours on the Labor & Delivery floor as a badged member of the team, giving me invaluable hands-on experience for all types of births and teaching me how to show up for people regardless of their backgrounds, preferences, or education.
No matter who you are, you deserve support.
I now have plans to take what I have learned in my volunteer practice and continued education and start working with clients one on one where I can truly learn about you and your preferences and advocate for you throughout your birth journey.
I am passionate about helping families feel support in whatever ways they desire and showing up how they need me to in that moment.
I’m not going to tell you what to do or make decisions for you. I am going to be by your side, guiding you to make informed decisions for yourself and your baby, and giving you the power that’s already inside of you to use your voice. You deserve to know what you want and, almost more importantly, what you don’t want.

- DONA International Approved Birth Doula Training in March 2025, including Introduction to Childbirth Education and Lactation Education
- Birth Doula training with UC San Diego Health in May 2025 where I currently serve as a badged volunteer and part of the care team
- Peanut Ball training with San Diego County Midwives
- Spinning Babies® Workshop
- WIC Lactation Seminar
- Observed a 5-week Childbirth/ Hypnobirthing course with The Birth Education Center
- Trained in HIPAA protocols and hospital best practices
- CPR/AED certified with American Heart Association
Outside of birth work,
I enjoy reading, hosting dinner parties, eating Wayfarer pastries at the park, puttering around the garden, and spending time with my husband, dog, and family.
I am a born and raised San Diegan and am proud to serve all of San Diego County.
